INEX Night On Deck For
Weekly Racing Series

(HALIFAX, NS - June 15th, 2016) – The Weekly Racing Series heads into week four of the 2016 season Friday with INEX Night. Three divisions will see extended distance features, the Hydraulics Plus Beginner Bandoleros will run a 15 lap feature and Bandoleros will have a 25 lap main event. The Strictly Hydraulics Legends and the Affordable Fuels & Metro Home Heating Sportsman will race 50 lap features. The Toursec Thunder division will also compete in a point paying 25-lap feature on Friday evening.

For those who are not familiar, INEX is the International Sanctioning body of Legend and Bandolero cars. INEX was developed to promote and organize Legend and Bandolero car racing worldwide.

The 50-lap Legends feature on Friday is an INEX National Qualifier, which will not only count toward their season long point total for a Scotia Speedworld Legend Car Championship, but will also lock the winner into a provisional starting spot in the 2016 INEX Asphalt Nationals at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl in picturesque Waterford, Connecticut from October 6th to 8th. Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB - Semi Pro), Paul Goulden (Shelburne - Masters), Adam Meehan (Young Lions - Rawdon, NS) and Joey Lawson (Porter’s Lake - Pro) all won INEX Canadian East Championships last season all while calling Scotia Speedworld their home track.

The Bandolero features will count towards their INEX National Championship and Scotia Speedworld championship points for each competitor in the field, and will feature the finest young talent in the Maritimes aged eight to 16 years. Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, Outlaw division) and Austin MacDonald (Bandit - Pictou) were INEX Canadian East Champions last season in their respective age group.

The Affordable Fuels Sportsman will see their first extended feature of the season Friday night. After three events Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake) leads the charge on the strength of two wins in the first three races of the year. Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake) only sits four points behind the 2012 champion after being on the podium in all three races so far this season. Pete Miller (Kennetcook), last week’s feature winner Travis Roma (West Chezzetcook) and Alex Johnson (Enfield) complete the top five in the championship standings. The 50 lap feature could set the tone for the season for many teams.

The Toursec Thunder division is led by two former division champions in Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie) and Dave Matthews (Kennetcook). Matthews is seven points behind Lively, but only six points up on fifth place Merle Corbin (Sackville). “The Ironman” Drew MacEachern (Dartmouth) and Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville) run third and fourth in the standings, respectively, after two completed events.

Admission for the Weekly Racing Series is $14 for adults, $4 for youth (8-15yrs), children seven and under are free all season at Scotia Speedworld! Grandstands open at 5:00PM with racing slated for 7:00PM. For more information on this event or the 2016 season please visit www.scotiaspeedworld.ca
