JACK DANIELS JOINS SCOTIA SPEEDWORLD AS NEW TRUCK DIVISION SPONSOR

(Halifax, NS. May 24, 2012) Scotia Speedworld is partnering with Jack Daniels this summer as they become the presenting sponsor of the Weekly Racing Series Truck division. The Trucks first entered the scene at Scotia Speedworld in 2009 following the demise of the Hobby Stock class. The division continues to grow from season to season and is certainly a fan favourite.  Scotia Speedworld is proud to welcome Jack Daniels on board as a first time division sponsor in 2012.

Jack Daniel was indeed a real person, and a pretty fascinating one at that. From birth to death, legend surrounded him, and in between he created Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey.  Some say that Jack Daniel had 7 girlfriends, or that the way he wrote his “J” looked like a 7. Some say he chose the number 7 simply because it’s lucky. Only Mr. Jack knows the real reason. Either way, we should consider ourselves lucky that he created Jack Daniel’s the way he did!

With the release of two Jack Daniel’s mixed cocktails in aluminum bottles, the options for picnics, boating, and all things summer just got better. Jack & Cola’and Jack & Ginger’ and even ‘Jack Lemonade’ are available on shelves now at your local NSLC. They will also be available at Scotia Speedworld this summer, for those of legal age.

The Jack Daniels Truck class is one of the most competitive series the Speedworld has to offer on a weekly basis. The 2011 season produced five different winners in a dozen races and saw an incredible championship battle between eventual champion JP Arsenault (Church Point) and Dan Smith (Lower Sackville). Arsenault and Smith are back for the ’12 season and will be joined by ’11 Rookie of the Year Ryan Goldsmith (Bridgewater), feature winners Vernon Brown (Antrim) and Jason Fenton (Eastern Passage) among others. The eight-cylinder pickups provide exciting nose to tailgate action every lap and the drivers are not afraid to swap a little paint should the situation arise!

“We welcome Jack Daniels to the Scotia Speedworld racing family. The Jack Daniels brand is internationally known and teaming with our hard charging, door to door truck racing is a good fit.” Said Ken Cunning, General Manager of Scotia Speedworld.

The Jack Daniels Truck division will see action for the first time this season along with 5 other divisions at the Weekly Racing Series season opener on May 27th at 2pm. Tickets for the Weekly Racing Series opener will be just $10.00 for adults in honour of our 25th anniversary celebrations!
