HYDRAULICS PLUS BANDOLEROS
Butcher Grabs Second ’10 Feature Win

On a beautiful evening at Scotia Speedworld it was the battle of 2010 feature winners in the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros as it was Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake) and Emily Meehan (Rawdon) racing up front for their second win of the season. Butcher put his #5 Atlantic Tiltload Limited/Hope for Wildlife Bandolero car in position to make a late race pass on then leader Meehan and held off the #15 Ocean Truck Equipment Limited Bandolero to take his second feature triumph of 2010. “Miss Rawdon Rocket” came home in second with Cole’s brother Jarrett (Porter’s Lake) completing the podium. 2009 Rookie of the Year Braden Langille brought home his #0 Velocity Machining and Welding car in fourth with ’10 class leading rookie Luke Ettinger (Kennetcook) coming home in fifth.

Langille began the night by winning the eight lap heat race in the division. The “young guns” of Scotia Speedworld will be back on track for Report Card Night on Friday night!

TRUCKS
Wayne Ritchie Makes It Four Different Truck Winners

Out of the seven Trucks to go racing this season at Scotia Speedworld, four of those have won a main feature! Wayne Ritchie (Stewiacke) took his #82 LeBlanc’s Auto truck to Victory Lane over his brother Gordon Ritchie (Antrim) and Curtis Lindsay (Enfield). Dan Smith (Lower Sackville) came home with a season high fourth place finish as Vernon Brown (Antrim), JP Arsenault (Church Point) and Dana Isenor (Enfield) rounded out the field. Isenor, a former Thunder car driver made his first Truck start in his #3 Blair’s Custom Metals ride on Friday.

Gordon Ritchie piloted his #26 Ritchie’s Renovations Truck to victory in the qualifying heat. Can Smith, Brown or Isenor become the fifth different winner in the fifth main feature in series history or can one of the Ritchie brothers, Lindsay or Arsenault become the first repeat winner in the division? Be there Friday to find out!

TIRECRAFT LIGHTNING
Michaud Jr. Bests Smith for Victory!

In a duel of former champions in the Tirecraft Lightning division it was last season’s top dog Dan Michaud Jr. (Cole Harbour) edging out ’06 titlist Russell Smith Jr. (Lakeside) for the victory but it was far from easy. Michaud held off many charges from Smith in the late stages as the #144 attempted to take the longer way around the Speedworld on the high side of the #119. “I tried to get around Dan but he was running hard,” said Smith on Saturday following the race. “I knew he’d be tough to get by especially being his first win of the season.” The former champs bested another 2010 feature winner Jorden Smith (Lakeside), Cody Singer (North Noel Road) and Nick Hurshman (Lakeside) in the top five.

Russell Smith Jr. and Jamie Creamer (Spryfield) scored heat wins on the evening. Creamer’s win was a popular one as “the Pit Lizard” hopped out of his car following the 10-lap event and jumped on the roof with the checkered flag! Creamer, along with the rest of the Lightning car field will be back this week as apart of Report Card Night!

TIRECRAFT THUNDER
Lively Scores First Feature Win!

With a smile on his face, last week’s main feature winner climbed from his second place car on Friday night and saluted the first time winner who was doing his victory lap.

“Great race Stevie Lively, you earned it,” were the words from Dave Matthews as the #1 Nibby Inc. Honda Civic took his time with the checkered flag at Scotia Speedworld on Friday. Lively (Shubenacadie) led Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) and rookie Andrew Warren (White’s Lake) to the line to collect his first main feature victory in his sophomore Tirecraft Thunder season. Also collecting top five feature runs on Friday included point leader Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake) and Matthew Warren (White’s Lake).

Banking heat wins on Friday night included West Chezzetcook’s Jordan Pirri and Lively. The Tirecraft Thunder cars will be back on track for the Saturday Night Special at the Speedworld on July 10th.

SPORTSMAN
Wallage Doubles Down, Collects First Speedworld Victory of ‘10

Last week in James River, Darren Wallage (Oakfield) took the checkers in a 50-lap Sportsman race at Riverside International Speedway. This week, Wallage picked up where he left off last weekend by winning the 30-lap main feature for the Sportsman at his home track! Wallage held off Steve Ross (Waverley) for the second consecutive weekend for the victory. Ross had won the first two events at the Speedworld this season and extended his point lead with the runner-up finish. They fended off charges from defending Sportsman champ Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodoboit), former Hobby Stock titlist Kyle Butler (Lake Egmont) and long haul driver Colby Smith (Cape Sable Island) inside the top five.

Wallage completed the double down by taking home a heat win, sharing honors with Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake). Can Wallage and his #3 Blair’s Custom Metals Chevrolet ride the winning wave into Report Card Night this Friday? Be there to find out!

The action heats up again on Friday as the Weekly Racing Series shines on Report Card Night. Then the cars and stars of the CARQUEST Pro Stock and Maritime League of Legends Tours light up the Enfield night with action and excitement at Scotia Speedworld on Saturday evening. Keep your web browser locked on ScotiaSpeedworld.ca for more information on the events.

Until then, keep the hammer down and we’ll see you at the track!
