TRUCK DIVISION
LINDSAY GRABS THIRD VICTORY OF SEASON

Enfield’s Curtis Lindsay made the winning pass in the second half of the main feature to take the victory in the 20-lap Truck division main feature on Friday night! Lindsay had to hold off the hard charging #4 Pico et Bebite Chevrolet driven by Church Point’s JP Arsenault for the win on a beautiful Enfield evening. Dan Smith (Lower Sackville) took home his first podium position of the season in third with Vernon Brown (Antrim) and Wayne Ritchie (Stewiacke) rounding out the top five.

Arsenault took home the heat win. Before the qualifying race, Gordon Ritchie (Antrim) was surprised on the front straightaway when his girlfriend Sherry got down on one knee and popped the question to the 2009 Hobby Stock titlist! The Trucks are on track next for Fan Appreciation Night.

TIRECRAFT LIGHTNING
SMITH BROTHERS FINISH ONE-TWO

For the fifth time in the Tirecraft Lightning division this season it was Russell Smith Jr. piloting his #144 B&D Welders Dodge Neon to victory in the 20-lap main feature! Smith of Lakeside made a last lap pass on his brother Jorden (Lakeside) to steal the victory from the sophomore driver. Dan Michaud Jr. (Cole Harbour) recorded a third place finish, holding off Nick Hurshman (Lakeside) for the position in the late going. Completing the top five was Windsor driver Craig Cordeau in his #199 R&S Sign Design/Jennie’s Photography Dodge Neon.

Winning qualifying heats on the evening were Cordeau and Russell Smith Jr., who completed the double down. The point lead for Russell is now forty-six points over Nick Hurshman with just three races to go in the 2010 season!

TIRECRAFT THUNDER
MATTHEWS WINS AGAIN IN THUNDER

Kennetcook’s Dave Matthews once again flexed the muscle in his #99 Wooden Door Bistro Honda Civic en route to his third main feature victory of the season! Matthews had to hold off a late race charge from sophomore Matthew Warren of White’s Lake at the end to hold on to the win. Shubenacadie’s Stevie Lively took third with Scott Williams of Sackville and 2009 Rookie of the Year Jordan Pirri finishing in the top five.

Williams and Pirri both took triumphs in their heat races. With his podium finish, Stevie Lively will take the point lead by a slim two point advantage over Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake) in the standings. Ross Harvie (Kennetcook) and Andrew Warren (White’s Lake) both sit within fifteen points of Lively as we head to the final few races of 2010!

LEGENDS
FOUR SCORE FOR JOHNSON AT SPEEDWORLD

For the second consecutive week it was Truro’s Bruce Johnson taking the checkered flag in the Legends feature. Johnson held off Jerry Austin (Westville) in the early stages and had to endure a couple of late race restarts to hang on for the victory. Chasing Johnson to the line on lap twenty-five was Bedford’s Justin MacNeill, Truro’s Paul Blenkhorn, Port LaTour’s Jeff Atkinson and Elmsdale’s Cy Harvey.

For Johnson, it is his third Weekly Racing Series victory of the season at the Speedworld and fourth overall with his Maritime League of Legends Tour victory in July. Harvey and Salisbury, New Brunswick’s Kyle Campbell took ten lap qualifying heat wins. With his third place run, Paul Blenkhorn took the point lead by four over Lantz’s Steve Pye.

SPORTSMAN
BOUTILIER DOMINATES MAIN FEATURE

Be it lapped traffic or late race restarts – nothing but the checkered flag seemed to be able stop Aaron Boutilier en route to the main feature win in the Sportsman division. Boutilier piloted his #4 Boutilier’s Auto Body/Baltas Automotive Ford Fusion to the win over Harry Ross White (Noel Road), Kyle Butler (Lake Egmont), Colby Smith (Cape Sable Island) and Sheldon Pemberton (Dartmouth). Butler, Jordan Veinotte (Porter’s Lake) and Fred Schofield (Windsor) took heat wins.

Steve Ross (Waverley) came in with the point lead but broke early in the main feature. Rookie Mike Alexander, who finished seventh in the main now has a seven point lead over Ross and Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodoboit). The Cole Harbour driver will look for his first Sportsman main feature win this weekend as the Sportsman 100 takes the green as apart of Atlantic CAT 250 weekend.

This weekend marks the biggest racing event in the Halifax Regional Municipality in 2010. The second Triple Crown of Maritime Pro Stock Racing event of the season will take green with the Atlantic CAT 250 along with the Sportsman 100. Qualifying runs on Friday with the trackside party being center stage after the racing action. Saturday is put aside for features only with 350 green flag laps of action to take the Speedworld oval by storm! Get your tickets now at TicketAtlantic.com!

Until then, keep the hammer down and we’ll see you at the track!
