HYDRAULICS PLUS BANDOLEROS BUTCHER GETS WIN #4
When it counts, Cole Butcher is there to capitalize. As was the situation for the fourth time this season when the Porter’s Lake driver took the checkered flag in the main feature for the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros. Butcher had to hold off former champ DJ Casey (Prospect Road) and Emily Meehan (Rawdon) for the victory. Meehan and Casey are the two closest competitors for Butcher, who took the point lead on Friday night over cars #15 and #8. Shubenacadie’s Braden Langille and Cole’s brother Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) completed the top five with both of those drivers scoring heat race victories on the night.
The Bandoleros will enjoy a couple of weeks off before returning to action on August 13th for Fan Appreciation Night.
SPORTSMAN SMITH SCORES FIRST WIN IN FIRST START
The highly anticipated debut of Russell Smith Jr. in the top division at Scotia Speedworld was a huge success as Smith piloted his #44 Dodge to victory in his first start! Smith worked his way past veteran Sheldon Pemberton early in the feature and never looked back as he took the checkered flag! Finishing in second was rookie Mike Alexander, who scored his best career finish in a Sportsman main event. Rounding out the top five included Darren Wallage (Oakfield), Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodoboit) and point leader Steve Ross (Waverley).
Taking heat wins in the season high twenty-eight car field were Windsor’s Fred Schofield, Tony Leonard and Elmsdale’s Chris Dingle. The high powered Sportsman competitors are back behind the wheel this Friday night as part of the Mid-Season Showdown.
TIRECRAFT LIGHTNING
SMITH DOES IT AGAIN IN LIGHTNING COMPETITION
After climbing from his winning Sportsman car, Russell Smith Jr. hopped into his Tirecraft Lightning car and pulled off the double by winning the 20-lap main feature! Smith lead a Smith Brothers Racing 1-2-3 finish by besting Nick Hurshman and brother Jorden Smith for the win. Chasing the Lakeside drivers to the line were North Noel Road’s Cody Singer and Cole Harbour’s Dan Michaud Jr.
The Neons of Craig Cordeau (Windsor) and Jorden Smith recorded heat race triumphs. Russell Smith Jr extended his point lead to thirty-eight over Hurshman as they head into battle this Friday night for the Mid Season Showdown!
TIRECRAFT THUNDER DIVISION HARVIE SCORES SECOND VICTORY OF THE SEASON
“When he got into me, I thought we were done!”
Kennetcook’s Ross Harvie brought home his second main feature win of the season but it was far from easy. Harvie and his #67 Rick’s Welding Honda Civic held off the charge and a bump from the #31 of Matthew Warren (White’s Lake) in the late going. Warren and team had their work cut out for them after a crash last week put their old car on the shelf. Kennetcook’s Dave Matthews slid in for second in his Wooden Door Bistro Civic followed by Matthew Warren, rookie Andrew Warren (White’s Lake) and point leader Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake).
West Chezzetcook’s Jordan Pirri and Joe Lawson of Porter’s Lake took home heat race wins. Next up for “The Best Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada” is the Mid Season Showdown this Friday night at the Speedworld.
LEGENDS JOHNSON PUTS MACLEAN MOTORSPORTS BACK IN VICTORY LANE
Truro’s Bruce Johnson recorded his second Weekly Racing Series feature win this season by besting the fourteen car Legend field on Friday night. Johnson, who also won the season opening Maritime League of Legends feature at the Speedworld, took the win on AMP Energy Night over Ray Cox Jr. (Porter’s Lake) and point leader Steve Pye (Lantz). Truro’s Paul Blenkhorn and Port LaTour’s Jeff Atkinson both recorded top five finishes on the evening, which included some great side-by-side action in one of the Speedworld’s most popular divisions.
Topping heat races earlier in the night were Johnson and Cox Jr. The Legends return to the track for this Friday’s Mid Season Showdown, where Steve Pye will have the point lead by eleven markers over Paul Blenkhorn!
Until then, keep the hammer down and we’ll see you at the track!
