HYDRAULICS PLUS BANDOLEROS
BUTCHER GRABS THIRD WIN

Once again it was Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake) and Emily Meehan (Rawdon) dueling at the front of the Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros on Twins Night. When the checkered flag flew it was Cole Butcher and his #5 Atlantic Tiltload/Hope for Wildlife Bandolero out front of the #15 Ocean Truck Equipment Limited Bandolero of Meehan for the victory. Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) brought his #3 ride home in third with Brad Bevan (Sackville) piloting the DJ Casey #8 to a fourth place run. Completing the top five on Twins Night was sophomore Braden Langille (Shubenacadie).

The field also saw three drivers from Speedway 660 take part in the 20-lap Bandolero feature at Scotia Speedworld. Dawson McIntee of Moncton, New Brunswick came home in sixth place in his Sign-a-rama/Advocate Bandolero followed by Harvey, New Brunswick’s Ryan Messer (Hemi House/Racks Bandolero) and Minto, New Brunswick’s Alicia Mowatt (John Deere/Corbin’s Car Wash Bandolero) coming home in 8th. We hope to see them back racing at the Speedworld in the near future!

The Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros have one point between the top runners heading into AMP Energy Night. Who will leave Scotia Speedworld with the point lead next Friday night? Be there to find out!

TRUCKS
JP WINS SECOND FEATURE AT SPEEDWORLD

In the 25-lap main event for the Truck class it was Church Point’s JP Arsenault in his Pico et Bebite Chevrolet besting the Ritchie brothers for the win. Arsenault, who scored his second main feature victory of the season held off Gordon (Antrim) and Wayne (Stewiacke) Ritchie for the victory on Twins Night. The three put on an impressive battle along with eventual fourth place finisher Vernon Brown (Antrim) up front. Completing the field of six trucks on Friday were Dana Isenor (Enfield) and Dan Smith (Lower Sackville).

Gordon Ritchie maintains his point lead in the division over brother Wayne as the Truck division will return to the track for the Mid-Summer Showdown on July 30th.

TIRECRAFT LIGHTNING
WILD FINISH LEADS TO HURSHMAN WIN

As they say, it ain’t over ‘til it’s over. Just ask Russell Smith Jr.

Smith (Lakeside) dominated the Tirecraft Lightning car fifty lap feature on Friday night by putting all but the top five cars one or more laps behind the pace. Then the white flag flew – and the power went out aboard the #144 B&D Welders Neon. “The lights came on and it just shut off,” said Smith the following day. As the cars rounded the second turn on lap fifty, carnage ensued with many of the top five cars getting involved in an incident while racing for what would turn out to be the win. The proverbial waters would part for the #145 Bernie’s Drywall Service Neon of Nick Hurshman (Lakeside) to score a big win in the fifty lap event. North Noel Road’s Cody Singer was credited with second with Russell Smith Jr. taking third. Jamie Dillman (Carroll’s Corner) who was second when the field took the white flag finished in fourth with sophomore Jorden Smith (Lakeside) completing the top five.

Hurshman will gain a bit on point leader Smith with the finish but the #144 will still have a pretty healthy point lead heading into AMP Energy Night this Friday night at Scotia Speedworld!

TIRECRAFT THUNDER DIVISION
MATTHEWS BECOMES FIRST ’10 TWO TIME WINNER

Just like it was the last time the Tirecraft Thunder cars were on the track it was Dave Matthews (Kennetcook) and Stevie Lively (Shubenacadie) putting on a show out in front for most of the event. That is until Lively got mixed up with a lapped car just past the halfway mark in the fifty lap feature, sending him to the rear and Matthews onto the win in the Thunder division! Matthews had to hold off point front runners Ross Harvie (Kennetcook), rookie Andrew Warren (White’s Lake), Tylor Hawes (Porter’s Lake) and Brently Pirri (Three Fathom Harbour) at the end for the victory. Lively would rebound for seventh place.

“The Best Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada” got off to a rough start in the feature which saw one red and two yellow flags within the first four laps of the event. The racers of the Thunder division then set a rapid pace with only one other caution in the second half of the event. They will be back in action on AMP Energy Night for twenty-five laps of heated action!

Five divisions will see action once again on AMP Energy Night at Scotia Speedworld. This is the event last season that Jeff Dillman (Middle Musquodoboit) scored his first Sportsman win en route to the 2009 championship. Who will take one step closer to the gold in 2010? Be there Friday at 7pm to find out!

Until then, keep the hammer down and we’ll see you at the track!
