SCOTT FRASER MEMORIAL CUP ANNOUNCED
HALIFAX, NS (2004 September 24) - The winner of Saturday afternoon's pro stock segment of The C&R Auto Supply Shootout at Scotia Speedworld will be the inaugural recipient of the Scott Fraser Memorial Cup. The perpetual trophy has been created to commemorate the many accomplishments of Scott Fraser at his home track. The popular Shubenacadie racer lost his life in a March snowmobile accident.
"Wherever Scott raced he always remembered Scotia Speedworld and his hometown fans," said Basil Gordon, general manager of Scotia Speedworld. "We thought this would be a fitting tribute and a way for all of us to remember him." The Scott Fraser Memorial Cup will be awarded annually to the winner of this event; the anniversary of the last of Scott Fraser's many wins behind the wheel of a racecar (pictured right, September 27, 2003). A 150-lap pro stock feature and a 100-lap sportsman feature will highlight The C&R Auto Supply Shootout. Time trials and heat races will set the starting grids for both the pro stock and sportsman features. The pit gates open at 7:30 a.m.; practice starts at 9:30; the grandstand opens at 11; time trials go at 12:50 p.m. and racing starts at 2 p.m. Grandstand admission is $25 for adults, $5 for youth (8-15), and children 7 and younger are admitted free. Pit admission is $30 and restricted to those 16 and older. Advance tickets are available in Dartmouth at Forbes Chev Olds, Parts For Trucks, Dave's Race Shop and Amber Contracting; in Halifax at the Oland Cold Beer Store; and in Bedford at Rocky Lake Quarry (scale house).
